Madeline Dunaway is a dynamic leader in sustainability and resilience within the built environment, advancing innovative, cost-effective strategies that drive impact across architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) projects. As Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Alma Environmental Partners, Madeline leads with a mission-driven approach to help clients across the United States embed sustainability into every phase of planning, design, and development.
Based in her hometown of St. Louis, Alma Environmental Partners delivers practical and high-impact environmental solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the AEC industry. Madeline’s work focuses on integrating strategies for LEED, WELL, and Fitwel certifications, decarbonization, and resilience, supporting clients in achieving performance goals that align with long-term environmental and business outcomes.
Prior to founding Alma, Madeline served as Director of Sustainability Services at Clayco, a full-service real estate, architecture, engineering, design-build, and construction firm operating across North America. After beginning as an intern in 2015, she joined the firm full-time in 2016 and played a key role in building and leading Clayco’s sustainability consulting group.
Madeline holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies and French Studies from the University of Richmond, and is a graduate of John Burroughs School. Her leadership is grounded in a commitment to creating high-performance buildings and communities that are environmentally responsible, socially equitable, and economically resilient.

Alana Spencer brings over 17 years of expertise in sustainability strategy, ESG integration, and climate resilience to her role as co-founder of Alma, a consulting firm dedicated to advancing sustainable development across sectors. With a proven track record in business development and corporate transformation, Alana leads with a visionary and results-oriented approach, aligning environmental impact with organizational performance.
As a recognized leader in the built environment, Alana specializes in embedding ESG principles across the full lifecycle of programs, from planning and design to implementation and operations. Her strategic insights have helped global clients enhance environmental performance, drive economic value, and promote social equity.
Rooted in her Chicago upbringing and deep commitment to social impact, Alana’s work bridges climate action with community well-being and corporate responsibility. Her leadership guides Alma in delivering innovative, impact-driven solutions that empower clients to achieve long-term sustainability and resilience in an evolving global landscape.
